You can view my unit on TPT by clicking HERE We made our very own Max and wrote about what we do when we feel wild. I love how they all turned out so differently! This is the writing chart we did before we made our Max's. This chart makes a great shared reading piece for the rest of the week. Students love going back to it time and time again. Literacy Centers Part Three Big Book Station and ABC center FREEBIES
Kids love Shared Reading time. There's just something about being actively involved in reading a story that you love. Each week I introduce a new big book. We spend a week reading the book, closely analyzing the text and getting to know the characters. Joy Cowley is one of our favorite authors. After we've spent a week on a big book I don't just put it away and forget about it. The big book joins all of the other big books in the big book center so that the Littles can ... continue reading...
Interactive Reading Comprehension Journals
I love looking around my room and seeing smiling faces while students read. This creates such a special feeling in the classroom. However, learning to read is really like learning a new language. It takes time and can be frustrating for students. So, I love to create fun and exciting ways for students to interact and think about stories and informational texts. For example, the Interactive Reading Comprehension Journals include so many hands-on ways for students to reflect on their reading in ... continue reading...

Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites: Chapters 1 & 2 LOTS OF PICTURES & EXAMPLES
I'm linking up with Elizabeth from Kickin' It in Kindergarten for this book study post. As I'm reading this book I constantly find myself nodding, Yes! and writing in the margins of the book. So far this book is really solidifying my Teaching Philosophy. I've always been a HUGE believer in giving students the opportunities to turn and talk. When students are given the opportunities to put what they've learned into their own words it solidifies their thinking and learning and they stand a ... continue reading...

Farm and Apple Fun!
My husband would say that he's glad there's only one of me. But, I can't tell you how great it would be if I could clone myself during the first 9 weeks of school. I am sure you guys feel the same way! Once the first 9 weeks are over and the kids know all of the routines it is smooth sailing. I can't wait for the day that I don't hear little voices calling out, "Mrs. Jump" 100 times. I told my little sweeties that I was going to change my name and one of them said in a worried voice, "But ... continue reading...
Organization Station!
I've had a lot of requests for my bin labels so here they are. You can click on the pictures to download them. The ones pictured above are for my smaller math storage bins and containers there are about three pages of them. I cut them out and laminate them on my Scotch Laminator (another one of my favorite things that I forgot to mention in my post). Wal-mart sells them for about $25 and then I buy the thick laminating sheets from Sams really cheap. Sams is about half the price of ... continue reading...

Shark Schema Chart: Teaching with Intention!
Teaching with Intention by Debbie Miller is one of my all-time favorite professional development books. When I read this book in 2008, it really helped me define my teaching philosophy and think about WHAT I do as a teacher and WHY I do it. When you do activities with your students, it's important to be able to define their purpose and to be able to explain why you think it's important. I LOVE this book, and I've blogged about it MANY times over the last five years. One of my favorite things ... continue reading...
