Digital Learning Reading Lesson Plans
Giraffe Problems by Jory John is a story about a giraffe who doesn’t like his long neck. He meets a turtle who is having neck problems, too! The two become friends and learn to appreciate what they have. Students will love this story and will have fun responding to authentic literature while learning about giraffes with these digital learning, reading lesson plans.
The unit includes a week-long lesson plan that is easy to follow, which is great if you plan on sending it home for distance learning. Students start their week by watching an online read-aloud of the story. On Day 2, students listen to the story a second time. Then, they retell the events in the story.
We’ve also included a printable version of all the activities. So you, or your students’ parents, can easily print the materials that are needed.
As the week continues, students respond to the story in various ways.
From making predictions to analyzing characters to making inferences, students will develop their reading comprehension skills throughout the week.
Nonfiction and More!
In addition to the story, Giraffe Problems, students also watch an informational video about giraffes. They will most definitely have fun learning with these nonfiction activities.
And of course, we added in a fun directed drawing to the lesson plans. Your students will enjoy watching this fun video and drawing their very own giraffe!
