Zoo Animals unit packed full of resources! Engaging and fun activities. Chit Chat messages, close reading passages, crafts, and more!
Zoo Animals
Teaching about zoo animals is seriously one of the best times EVER! The littles get super excited and stay so engaged in learning. It can be hard to keep their attention at this time of the year, but it sure helps when they are having fun! I just completely updated this whole unit so it’s ready to go for your upcoming zoo unit. Find it by clicking here, Zoo Animals Chit Chat Messages, Close Reading Passages, and More! This unit provides resources to teach about the zoo and zookeepers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and hippos. Your class is sure to become zoo experts!
Close Reading Passages
There is a nonfiction book for each animal! You can print and bind the book or display each page on your Smartboard, Ipad, or another device.
Think About It response sheets are a great before-reading activity.
As a class, read the passages and respond to reading with adorable flap books.
Create a chart to display your learning about each animal.
Chit Chat Messages
Chit Chat messages build phonics skills, as well as, listening and speaking skills. You can display Chit Chat messages on an anchor chart or on the Smartboard. Share the marker and let students help complete the message. They can also fill in their own chit chat message!
Crafts!
Zoo animal crafts?? Yes, please! These crafts are so cute and would be an awesome addition to a hallway display. There is a craft with easy to print patterns for each animal!
