For book talk Tuesday I wanted to come back and share a few more of my favorite quotes from this inspiring book, Crash Course. It is a must read as many of you are gearing up to go back to school soon.
Here are two quotes from the book that can help you create a classroom where students not only learn the content but learn how to be better people in the process.
Positive and Negative thinking are both contagious. Be careful what you spread.
This would be a great way to start the day. Sit in a circle and have each child share a positive thought about the student to their right. Powerful!
Children should be taught to help others from an early age; they can learn this by watching adults around them do the same.
I’m thinking a yearlong kindness project would be a great thing to incorporate this school year.
Have your students help come up with ways that they can show kindness to others.
It can be as simple as making cards for the custodians, helping them empty trash cans, or bringing them treats. Collecting shampoo, conditioner and other items for a homeless shelter, singing songs at a nursing home…. the list of possibilities is endless.
We are the ones our students look up to and it is up to each and everyone of us to help make the world a better place!
